This is the most “appeal to emotion” argument that I have read in a minute. Sure, AI development for deepfake technology doesn’t seem to solve any relevant problems like world hunger. Most people would agree with you. But stating that a software engineer could solve world hunger if they stopped working on deepfake AI software couldn’t even be called a stretch.
