Automation is part of my job, but I can often hide to what extent things can be automated, and how easily it can be done. Things that sound extremely impressive can often be just 10 minutes of work. If my boss is being a jerk, I’ll conveniently forget to mention how easy it was, and just take a day off work instead.
One time I was really mad at him, and told him my work for the day was done in 10 minutes and it’s results not work time that matters, and I was taking the rest of the day off. Boy, did that piss him off.
