I could write a book on the complete disregard of basic employee rights by Amazon. Now.. I’m not saying this is like the factory from Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle, but for this era, it’s ridiculous. Also it is different. The overreach of surveillance by Amazon has taken on Orwellian proportions. If you think I’m being a “conspiracy theorist” or just some whack-job, I suggest you read up on Amazon’s anti-union practices, such as: their algorithms for detecting Union sympathizers and just their history of anti-unionization blackmail and manipulation of employees. They don’t want Unions because that would make them unable to put us under such dangerous situations, or make us resort to pissing in bottles on our routes so we don’t get behind, and they’d actually have to listen to us for once. Their greed knows no end. During this whole Coronavirus bullshit, there were people all around me making more money than me on unemployment, while I was breaking my body and mind down at this soul-sucking hell. They have body-heat cameras and detect when employees are within 6 feet of each other. They had employees (Ones I assume they deemed unproductive) walking around the warehouse screaming, “6-feet!” when they would violate that dumb shit constantly. I got to the point where I started screaming it back at them when I saw them being hypocrites. Something to break the monotony I guess. They threatened to fire us if we were seen anywhere without our masks on, or were within 6 feet of each other more than once. If you’ve ever worked a job like this, you know that’s not possible. At some point we have to ask ourselves at what point is this about safety anymore and not just about subservience. Anyway I was one of the last ones to get laid off probably due to my blatant disregard for authority and questioning illogical practices even though I was easily one of their best employees. I guess my whole point is... if you want to go be a slave, not question anything, just punch in and punch
