I tend to see myself as relatively well informed about African politics so I'm really curious how this is envisioned. Is this a tarrif free zone or is the intent to create a regulated market like the EU is? Because I doubt the second one is doable in 1-2 years. A tarrif free zone is of course a wonderfull much needed change but I doubt African leaders are going to handover such a powerfull diplomatic tool without hassle. What is going to happen to the weakest entities of Africa, say the C.A.R. South Sudan and the D.C.R. there is no way their already vulnerable industries can compete with, say those of Nigeria or South Africa. I really hope this project produces more than just papers of goodwill.
