Ever? Um. That is a real maybe. The cambrian mass extinction almost literally ended all life on this planet. There are also probably even worse mass extinctions. They are just hard to analyze because they didn't leave an easy to look at fossil record. For instance first photosynthetic bacteria probably almost ended all life on earth. The rocks in my yard are full of the fossils. Those fossils were created as the entire ocean ecosystem was almost completely destroied. The culprate was first animals to sift the bottom of the ocean. They literally killed entire classes of life that literally sat on the ocean bottom. They had no way to right themselves after falling over. Over 95% of all species died. 70-85% of genuses. We lost an entire Kingdom. Life still bounced back. It always have. It probably always will till the core cools too much in a few billion years. The real question is can humans survive the ecological collapse we are unattentionally designing. *That* is unclean, and personally apathetic to. In 10 thousand years you will hardly tell we were here if we are gone.
