Amen, brother.
We are too quick to want this tech to work, that we quickly forget all the *other* tech that exists and constantly fails. Im with you - a long IT history. And no way in hell am I blindly trusting the life of myself and family to some college grad in India who copy/pasted some Python code from Stack Exchange.
Not to mention, there will always be a population of non-self driving vehicles... police/fire, 18 wheelers, motorcyles, pedestrians, construction, train crossings, buses, older vehicles. We will never be in a 100% autonomous road system, and I dont want to be at a disadvantage.
