Just look at a map of tectonic plate subduction zones. This is a basic fact of geology and has been accepted for decades. No theories, no mathematical model guessing. Subduction zones and oceanic ridges are proven fact. Plates shift apart, plates slide under each other. Do you doubt that the floor of the mid Atlantic is rising as the plates part and fresh rock pours out and up?
