between 10 and 20 cm actually, which is 4 to 8 inches. It seems silly, but that difference can actually ruin a community. Some communities already reside *below* sea level and are at constant risk of rising sea levels. I can take a wild guess and say it's also partially due to shorelines receding over time, but the issue is also sea levels rising.
