Also, it is unrealistic and poor thinking to assume autonomous killer robots will be confined only to warzones, or used solely against violent "enemy" forces (a hostile army, paramilitary group, etc). Such autonomous robots would make extremely terrifying and virtually implacable security guards. They would be present at political protests, surrounding banks and other high-value institutions, guarding politically sensitive buildings like the White House or the Fed, you name it. Frankly, autonomous killer robots would revolutionize the relationship of power between the governed and the governor in a very terrifying and dangerous way. They will make the governed far less able to effect change via protest and redress of grievances. They will solidify the governors monopoly on violence and greatly enhance his capacity for control. tl;dr Autonomous killer robots are not in an ethical gray area; they are strictly immoral and dangerous, and can only have a negative affect on our societies.
