High EQ is also harder to access when the body is running on empty. Sleep deprived, blood sugar crashing, cortisol through the roof. The self awareness, the calm presence, the empathy. All of it erodes. EQ is a skill and it also has a physical floor.
The last one is the one that takes time to learn. Being genuinely happy for others when they do well sounds simple, but it isn’t always easy in practice. And in my experience, it’s what separates people who build strong teams from those who just manage them. Everything else tends to follow from that.
