AI is now more expensive than the humans it replaced! This is not a prediction, it's already happening. Microsoft gave thousands of engineers access to Claude Code in December 2025. Six months later…

The cost is only going to get higher as well. As there is more of a can’t live without emphasis on AI the cost can keep rising. What we are seeing now is the budget phase to help it take off. If needs to be affordable to justify its adoption. It’s basically a gateway drug right now. Once hooked that’s when the costs will spiral. Someone needs to pay for the trillions being invested in all these new data centers. These are not a charity effort. The desire is hooking companies on the drug forever. This is why there is the push to suggest kids not go to college. If a new generation is not trained to compete with AI then companies have no choice but to pay the insane costs of AI in the future. AI is a great tool but those pushing it hard may not have the best intentions of keeping it affordable.

Well AI is replacing humans for the context in it requires best architectural practices around security and cost optimization (token consumption) that relates directly to how its been used alot of components added up when narrowing this down. Its not like you gave the access to your engineers and tell them to use now as one task can be done by multiple prompts with different token consumptions that fairly changes the cost number alot. This requires training and architectural guidance on how you design internal AI systems. One thing to consider is when cost comes into picture then ethics won’t play much of a role..

Interesting reality check. The conversation should move from “AI replacing humans” to “AI augmenting humans.” The biggest ROI isn't from removing engineers. It's from enabling good engineers to deliver more, faster, and with better quality. When AI is applied indiscriminately, token costs, governance, review cycles, and rework can quickly outweigh the perceived savings.
